100 Bishopsgate:
100 Bishopsgate is a skyscraper under construction in London. It will stand in a prominent location in the City of London, on Bishopsgate and a short distance from Liverpool Street station. The developer is Great Portland Estates, the architects are Allies and Morrison and Woods Bagot and the structural engineer is Robert Bird Group
History of 100 Bishopsgate:
The building has been planned for several years and was initially rumoured to be 260 m (55 storeys).[citation needed] However, a planning application submitted in September 2006 revealed it to be 165 m, with 40 storeys. It was approved in April 2007 and demolition of the building formerly on the site was completed in late 2011. In July 2011 it was given a height increase of 7 m, taking the overall height to 172 m.
The lower part of the tower splays out on one side giving it the appearance of twisting slightly. This reduces the wind currents that are experienced by pedestrians by absorbing them. This is further reinforced by the treatment to the lower façades. The top of the tower is designed to reach the shoulder of Tower 42.
The building will contain 785,772 square feet (73,000 m2) of office floorspace. It will stand on the other side of Camomile Street to the City's tallest building the Heron Tower. 100 Bishopsgate is one of several new skyscrapers under construction in the City, others include The Pinnacle and the Leadenhall Building. As of May 2013, the tower is still waiting to secure a pre-let in order to initiate construction........Wikipedia >>
