India officially the Republic of India (Bharat Ganrajya), is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by area, the second-most populous country with over 1.2 billion people, and the most populous democracy in the world. Bounded by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the south-west, and the Bay of Bengal on the south-east, it shares land borders with Pakistan to the west; China, Nepal, and Bhutan to the north-east; and Burma and Bangladesh to the east.

Tourism in India is a large industry. The World Travel and Tourism Council calculated that tourism generated $121 billion or 6.4% of the nation's GDP in 2011. It was responsible for 39.3 million jobs, 7.9% of its total employment. The GDP of the tourism sector has expanded 229% between 1990 and 2011. The sector is predicted to grow at an average annual rate of 7.7% in the next decade.

ভারত দক্ষিণ এশিয়ার একটি রাষ্ট্র। দেশটির সরকারি নাম ভারতীয় প্রজাতন্ত্র। ভৌগোলিক আয়তনের বিচারে এটি দক্ষিণ এশিয়ার বৃহত্তম এবং বিশ্বের সপ্তম বৃহত্তম রাষ্ট্র। অন্যদিকে জনসংখ্যার বিচারে এই দেশ বিশ্বের দ্বিতীয় সর্বাধিক জনবহুল তথা বৃহত্তম গণতান্ত্রিক রাষ্ট্র। ভারতের পশ্চিম সীমান্তে পাকিস্তান উত্তর-পূর্বে চীন, নেপাল, ও ভূটান এবং পূর্বে বাংলাদেশ, মায়ানমার ও মালয়েশিয়া অবস্থিত।
