Thomas Jones has been selected as an
exemplar school, appearing in three recent publications: Reading by Six
(Ofsted), Building an Outstanding Reading School (Oxford University Press) and
Narrowing the Gap (also Oxford University Press). The school features in Moving English Forward (Ofsted) . When
last inspected Thomas Jones was awarded outstanding grades in every category.
This was validated in January 2013 by Her Majesty’s Inspectors. In the previous
academic year, Head of Ofsted Sir Michael Wilshaw and Education Secretary
Michael Gove visited and were effusive and encouraging. Our current Ofsted Data
Dashboard ranking is exceptionally high.
History of Thomas Jones Primary School:
The
school is oversubscribed with 220 applications for 30 Reception places in 2013
and waiting lists for all classes, including the Nursery. Attendance was 97% in
2013. 100% of Year 6 pupils achieved National Standards in both English and
Mathematics in 2013, with 92% achieving above and beyond this level in reading,
and 70% excelling in Mathematics.
