History TV18 (formerly known as The
History Channel) is a pan-Indian television channel broadcasting programmes
related to historical events, infotainment and persons, owned by a
joint-venture between A+E Networks, owner of the American "History"
channel, and Network 18, an Indian media group. The channel is in a bouquet of
factual entertainment channels to be launched by the joint venture. available
in eight languages (English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati
and Urdu) in full HD across all major markets in India and will reach out to
more than 50 million households in the launch phase. If you are digital cable

Like
its US counter-part, the channel focuses on pseudo-documentaries, unscientific
and unsubstantiated productions and scripted reality shows.
History
was first launched as The History Channel on November 30, 2003. It was launched
by a joint venture between AETN International and News Corporation's STAR,
through its subsidiary NGC Networks. It had aired series like Biography (TV
series), Conspiracy?, Crusades, Secret Agents and Breaking Vegas and television
movies like Marilyn and Me. Following the expiration of the deal between AETN
and STAR on November 21, 2008, STAR took over the channel and re-branded it as
Fox History & Entertainment. That channel has since been re-branded again as
Fox History & Traveller, then Fox Traveller and is currently available in
India.
On
October 9, 2011(09/10/11), History was re-launched in India as History TV18, by
AETN18 Media Pvt. Ltd., a joint venture between A+E Networks and Network 18.
The channel, is available in 6 languages including English, Hindi, Tamil,
Telugu, Bengali and Marathi has hired Salman Khan as its spokesperson. Some
shows are also available in Gujarati. with another few shows being available in
